ISN Rtr Role

Nexus Dashboard

Like any of the roles you have set previously in this lab for devices specific to certain roles, your Core-Rtr needs it's role set to core router for the appropriate interface and BGP configuration to be provisioned automatically.

Step 1 - Set ISN Router Role

Set the role of the external device, Core-Rtr, correctly:

  1. Click Inventory
  2. Locate and select the checkbox for Core-Rtr
  3. Click Actions
  4. Click Set Role in the dropdown menu

  5. You may need to Scroll Down to find Core Router
  6. In the Select Role popup, click Core Router
  7. Then click Select
  8. Click Ok in the warning popup that informs that you must perform a Recalulate and Deploy.

Step 2 - Review ISN Router Role

Review the switch role you set. Again, each switch role will serve a purpose in the type and amount of exact configuration required to be deployed to a given switch, in this case, an external device.

Summary

You set the Core Router role on the ISN device. This role tells Nexus Dashboard that this device serves as the inter-site transport, and ND will configure it accordingly during deployment to enable Multi-Site connectivity between your data centers.
