Nexus Dasboard Fabric Controller (NDFC)

At-a-Glance

Cisco Nexus® Dashboard Fabric Controller (NDFC) (formerly Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM)) provides granular, scalable visibility for deep-dive troubleshooting, functionality, and maintenance operations that benefit data-center operation teams. Cisco NDFC makes fabric management simple and reliable. And Cisco NDFC meets ever-growing scalability needs with the integration of Cisco Nexus Dashboard Orchestrator (NDO).

Benefits

Cisco NDFC is the network management platform for all Cisco NX-OS-enabled deployments, spanning new fabric architectures, IP Fabric for Media, and storage networking deployments for the Cisco Nexus-powered data center.

  • Cisco NDFC runs as an application on Cisco Nexus Dashboard
  • New and revamped user interface and experience to align with Cisco Nexus Dashboard
  • Modularized architecture based on Kubernetes Microservices
  • Cisco Nexus Dashboard fabric discovery capability for Inventory and discovery only
  • Increased capability for non-Nexus platforms including Cisco IOS-XE and Cisco IOS-XR
  • Implementation of Cisco® Smart Licensing policy
  • Storage management for the Cisco MDS 9000 family and Cisco Nexus switches

New Workflow

Moving from DCNM to NDFC, with the new UI framework, we bring new workflows for daily operation and a consistent UI with all other Cisco Nexus Products. You will have a single view of the topology including physical topology links between switches, compute resources and logical links like BGP connections between fabrics. All the network configuration is easy to access from Fabric view for day-0 device onboarding, day-1 configuraiton management to day-2 troubleshooting.
